Industrial music festival featuring local, regional and international musicians produced by Voidstar Produced. I did video projection with several acts. This was the opening show at 119 Gallery.

Noise and Burlesque: Karlheinz, noise; DJ DeftlyD, industrial; DJ Vartan, techno; Lena & w2, video; Jen Moher, burlesque. This was a great show which featured three noise and electronic music sets with video. In between sets Jen Moher as Little Red Coquette presented two short skits.

A relaxed party that began with DJ Vartan spinning experimental electronica while I shredded clips from Forbidden Planet and followed by my video Metropolis::remix with an improvised electronic score by DJ DeftlyD, CDs; Mike Fun, Theremin and electronics; and myself; analog synthesizer.

Outdoor performance at the pixel in the 'Fens' with Joe Burgio and Heather McQuiston followed by an improvisation at Open Floor with text by Steven Holloway and movement by Joe Burgio, Teresa Czepiel, Heather McQuiston, and Fred. I played percussion.

Dance Disruptions: Joe Burgio, Katt Hernandez, Lena, Heather McQuiston, w2.
From 9-11pm Dance Disruptions took over gallery space throughout the building. Katt played her Stroh Violin and I played Bohdran for Heather and Joe who danced. Lena shot the performance with her camcorder and the video was projected onto the gallery walls.
Noise & Pornography: Joe Burgio, Lena, Heather McQuiston, Nau-zee-auN, RAT, DJ Vartan, w2, ZipperSpy.
From 11pm-1am Noise & Pornography ran on the 4th floor. Nau-Zee-auN destroyed several TV sets accompanied by harsh industrial noise. Video projections filled two walls with live and pornographic images. DJ Vartan played strange, intense music. Thanks to Vartan the sound system rocked. ZipperSpy + w2 wrapped it up with aural/visual catharsis and abreaction.

A full day of presentations, panel discussion and performances at the YWCA Cambridge. The afternoon program features presentations by Teresa Marrin Nakra, Immersion Music; Dennis Miller, Music Faculty Northeastern U; Carol Goss, founder of the Not Still Art abstract video festival; and Benton-C Bainbridge, multimedia artist and member of the pioneering video performance groups Nneng and The Poool.
Following the presentations a panel including Dana Moser, Assoc Professor of Media Arts at Massart, chair; the presenters listed above; and Steina Vasulka, video pioneer, and co-founder of The Kitchen; will discuss topics such as Visual Music, visual instruments, visual improvisation, theory and performance.
The evening program features performances by DrT, video with James Coleman, theremin and Joe Monteiro, percussion; Antony Flackett aka DJ Flack, laptop video; the BopAnts, freejazz and video improvisation; Steina, Violin Power; Benton-C Bainbridge, solo sound and video improv. The evening will conclude with a sound and video collaboration with Jason Lescalleet, tapeloops; and Benton Bainbridge, video improvisation. A Boston Cyberarts Festival event.

Wright's multi-monitor, multi-channel installation includes the "Video Shredder" which process a live feed from the gallery space. Additional channels of video with sound created at the Experimental Televison Center complete the installation. Monitors are placed in the gallery space and, in addition, a large video projection on the gallery wall. A Boston Cyberarts Festival event.

The second of two programs, and more, consists of the work of artists who create work where the integration and interaction between non-narrative visual elements, the sound/music, and the technology are of the highest priority in creating video art.
The program includes two of Wright's videos, Variations and Kamloopsloops.

Manifest 2003 is a showcase of more than 20 digital photographs, prints, and video as well as interactive, site-specific and web-based projects by New England artists who use the computer as a vital tool in the creation of their art. The exhibition celebrates the artistic merits of these projects and as such draws connections between the history of art so commonly associated with the Copley Society of art and the future of art that both CoSo and the Boston Cyberarts Festival seek to encourage.
Wright is showing Portraits: liz & wynee, heather and carey, three one minute portraits of dancers from Open Floor at Green Street Studios, Cambridge. The dancers are Liz Heichelbech, Wynne Wirth, Heather McQuiston and Carey McKinley. Music by Joe Brown, Mike Fun and Sam Loebel.

Walter Wright shows video pieces in live settings using a device of his own invention - the "Video Shredder." The videos in this show are excerpts from one of his performances. A member of the Boston-area collective VideoSpace - as well as a staff associate at the Computer Arts Center, Massachusetts College of Art, Boston - Wright has performed throughout the east coast of the USA and Canada at art galleries and museums, schools and colleges, media centers, conferences, and festivals. One of the first video animators, he worked at Computer Image Corp in the early 1970s. In 1973-1976, as artist-in-residence at the Experimental Television Center, NY, he pioneered video performance touring public access centers, colleges and galleries with the Paik/Abe video synthesizer.
