Seduction comes in many forms and flavors. We’ve all fallen prey to its sticky grip at one time or another- whether it be for money, sex, power or something else. This month, 119 Gallery’s Setheyny Pen is curating Seduce Me- an exhibit that explores the magnetic pull of all things seductive. It will showcase the works of six area artists, all current or recent art school students.
“Seduction is all about leading someone somewhere,” says Setheyny, “for us to be motivated we have to have passion in something. Right now I see society suffering from a lack of passion. The economy and other issues have really thrown us for a loop. I want people to come out of this show inspired and ready to do something, to participate in something.”

Mike’s future seems bright in 2009. His EP “Just Takes Time” is complete and will be released on July 17th, 8pm at a gathering at the Mount Pleasant Country Club in Lowell. Check out Mikes calendar for the upcoming line of shows and television spots. The tail end of ‘ 09 includes band member Bill Harmon on bass, Dan Martin on drums and the newest addition to the band, Mike T. on guitar. The pieces are in place for an unbelievable summer.

The boy who spoke clouds is transfixed as he watches the old men chant. He is a boy, but he is also very old, and has had so many men throw words at him from each and every angle, but finally he can hear the golden word, truth finally spoken from the mouths of a thousand men on one giant mountain.
Check out the websites! All these bands are f**kin’ awesome. Mike & Ang how did you do it!

Immersive Music + Loop 2.4.3
Saturday July 11 8pm, $10 donation requested.
Immersive Music:
Nathaniel Bartlett, solo marimba, utilizes three-dimensional, high-definition, computer-generated sound projection. He performs with a rig that seamlessly melds my instrument with electronics, computers, and an eight-channel cube of loudspeakers. He is able to project and move sound anywhere in the performance space, totally immersing the audience in the music. The computer-generated sounds relate quite well to the visual arts as concepts of objecthood and spatial structure become a part of the musical fabric.

Loop 2.4.3:
Percussionists/composers Thomas Kozumplik and Lorne Watson recently released their debut recording, Batterie (Music Starts From Silence), which features 6 extended tracks recorded in one hour at Jack Straw Productions in Seattle. “There are action adventures and reveries on Batterie, and it all sounds like part of a well-thought-out tradition. Only the tradition has never existed until now.” (Fresh Air - NPR) With Loop 2.4.3 as their main project, Watson and Kozumplik have performed with the Clogs,The Books, Willie McBlind, Evan Ziporyn, Belle Orchestre, Newband, and their late mentor Robert Hohner. They have performed throughout North America, Europe, Scandinavia, S. Korea, and Australia and have received awards and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Connecticut Council on the Arts, Chamber Music America, the UK Arts Council, Yale University, and the International Association of Jazz Educators.

Pizza–Poetry–Party

Join LPN for an evening of pizza and poetry. Our featured poets are Kim Triedman and Joan Kimball, both members of The Concord Poetry Center. After Kim and Joan “wow” us with their “supreme” poetry, we’ll take a “cheezy” break followed by “extra-toppings” of open-mic specials.
Yum! All this for three dollars admission.
I have directions to 119 Gallery from Chelmsford center. Basically down Route 110 heading towards Lowell. If you need directions, just drop me a line.
Stop by for a saucy slice of simile :>) Janet Stevenson
