Christ Among Puffers, collage by Steve Dalachinsky

Steve Dalachinsky (Poet in Residence) & Yuko Otomo [New York City] – poets
with
Rick Breault – laptop
Stephanie Lak – voice and electronics
Walter Wright – percussion

we live in the faces on the wall
in the drum within the soul
of the dancer
in the skuttle & the tap & the
boogie woogie
heartbeats

we sing with the arts within our blood
as the hood of the sky shelters us
from
demons & stars
we walk on the waters of life &
fall apart in its presence
like shy little kids by the campfire

life life
we scat in time’s trunk
& break the chains of life
we fold like flowers
like old linen
like old paper
& old scotch
fold into ourselves like notes
we live within the monsters & the mothers
of the world
fold into ourselves like notes

we devour our breakfast
we devour our lunch
we devour our dinner
we devour our ancestors
we live in the faces on the wall
embraced by the shawl of winter
kissed by the lips of spring
haunted by the rhythms of summer
devoured by the colors of fall
while we devour our children
devour the lives on the wall
fill our eyes with rainwater
& abandon ourselves to the light
